With a Difference
Horseshoeing
has to fit the situation, right? It has to fit the needs of the horse and the
needs of the owner. There is no "one size fits all" in my business. You
need a farrier who will listen to you and work with you. I know that. And whether
you are riding trail, showing at halter, jumping fences, or running barrels, it's
best if you can find someone who has been where you are now. I know that too,
and I've been there too. I know each of my clients is different and I know each
horse is special. I will do what is needed to fit the situation. As a horseshoer,
I give you custom service.
My
name is Brian Marshall. I'm a farrier, but I'm also a horseman, horse trainer,
showman and show judge. I have 30 years' experience watching and listening to
horses. A 1991 graduated from the Oklahoma Horseshoeing School, I've been trimming
and shoeing horses ever since. As
a Farrier my expertise extends to:Cold
shoeing Hot shoeing and forge work Therapeutic shoeing Horses with
laminitis and other lameness Shoeing draft horses Mules and mule shoes
If
you're thinking you haven't seen me around for a while, you right. In 2002, due
to a back injury from playing basketball, I dropped out of full time farrier practice,
and only kept some clients who were friends. I got married to a lovely wife, started
a family and went to work for a boss. Years passed, my back healed, and I discovered
I didn't like working for a boss. So I'm "back in the saddle again"
so to speak, and I like it here. While working for one boss, I did remodeling
and renovation, so now I can hammer more than just horseshoe nails for you. What
You Need To Know About MeI'm
a farrier who also loves to ride. Although I do love to ride trails, I've also
trained and shown Quarter Horses at a championship level in both English and Western
classes. I understand the needs of the hunt seat horse versus the western performance
horse. I know the difference between a billet versus a cinch; show jacket &
breaches versus wranglers & chaps. Riding western is my first love; riding
English is my native language. Shoeing
Clinics, Talks, Demo's, and Personal CoachingYes,
I do give horse shoeing clinics, talks and demonstrations. You may be a horse
owner, trail riding club, 4H club, or a horse show association wanting to better
educate your membership. I would love to come do a presentation or an open forum
question/answer session pertaining to horseshoeing and hoof care. If you're a
farrier, yes, I also coach other farriers. For more information call me. Questions
You May Have?Q.
Do you Beat Horses? A. No I never beat horses -- ever! Q.
Do you discipline horses you work on? A. Yes, I do -- sometimes a tap
or calculated jab in the ribs to get their attention. I only hit a horse if they
bite, kick or they're going to literally use me for a seat cushion. I never discipline
in anger. Q. Do you use behavioral drugs on horses to shoe them?
A. 2 Part Answer. 1. I never personally drug horses under any circumstance
to shoe or trim them. Any drugs used during a shoeing procedure will be administered
by a veterinarian, under veterinary supervision only, per veterinary recommendation.
2. Only for special cases such as horses with serious Laminitis (Founder)
might I recommend using some kind of pain killer. But - I never have yet. Q.
Do you give horses shoeing and trimming training lessons? A. Yes I do.
A training session costs the same as an actual work session. Q.
Do I make emergency calls? A. Yes I do. Q. Do emergency
calls cost more? A. Yes, absolutely.
Q. Will you work
with a Vet on a lame horse? A. Yes, I prefer to work with a vet
when dealing with a lame horse. This
site is still under construction. Not all the *tabs* at the left work yet. But
some do, and the rest are ........ Coming
