Storybook Glen Country
Retreat and Refuge Northwest Arkansas
Ozarks
A
country retreat and refuge for writing, health, and getting away. Storybook Glen,
located in the Northwest Arkansas Ozarks, provides lodging, and refuge for those
seeking sanctuary for a spell. Country lovers, gardeners, writers, those recovering
from illness - all might enjoy our quiet atmosphere and the opportunity to experience
the benefits of remote country living. We are located near Pettigrew Arkansas,
50 miles southeast of Fayetteville off Hwy 16, 3 miles into the Ozark National
Forest.
Also we offer one-on-one individualized educational opportunities in those areas
where we ourselves are expert. We can give you lessons in gardening, landscaping,
homesteading, equine shoeing and training, both the art and business of wreath
building, home repair, web writing. We will be glad to serve you in your particular
needs. The
glen is an ideal get-away for an individual, couple, or family who want to be
away from the throng. But be situated about half an hour to Mulberry Mountain,
Old Applegate Place and Turner Bend, Storybook Glen can also cater to canoers
and event go-ers. We
are also centrally located in the Ozark Region of hiking trails and waterfalls
in the Tim Ernst Guides and close to many in the Buffalo region too.
We are not an impersonal motel type set-up. You alone are our guests. We cater
to your specific needs. One beautifully remodeled guest bed/sitting room and bath
in the north wing of a large home gives you privacy if and when you want it. A
Walton-style extended family occupies another wing and the upper story. We will
give you complete privacy if you wish it. But as in the tradition of European
bed and breakfasts, we also like people and will befriend you if you so choose.
We
are Christians searching and working for the Restoration and our lifestyle reflects
that and also the house policies. Our type of relaxation and celebration might
not be like your's. Drinking and smoking are not allowed. TV signal is not received.
Music may fill the house at times, but the beautiful sound of silence usually
prevails. DVD's are found, but books abound. Our nighttime light is the moon and
the stars. You'll not hear traffic, but instead the sounds of waterfalls when
it's raining and forest creatures when it's clear.
There are extensive gardens on the grounds, first built
as a cutting garden with the viewing public in mind, now planted as a combination
flower/vegetable garden.
There
are walking paths and hiking trails on the grounds and throughout the National
Forrest. If you would like a guide, let us know.

There
are scenic wonders - waterfalls, cliffs, caves, rock formations, flora and fauna-
not to mention the panaramic views of hills and hollers folding in on one another
as far as the eye can see. It is truly awesome.
Canoeing
can be enjoyed on the nearby Mulberry River, offering about 40 miles of good canoeing,
kayaking, and rafting when the river is high.
(Reserved
for a picture of Glory Hole here with text - I will get to this some day) Horse
training and trail riding can be observed or participated in, with the opportunity
for private instruction. Rappelling and climbing is available and offered as
a special package. We do not use extreme technique. The
tabs at the top left side of the page and the links at the bottom will take you
to different places on the site. |
